Young drivers often struggle to find affordable car insurance and so Hughes Insurance has introduced HughesDrive, a Telematics-based car insurance product to help young drivers across Northern Ireland.
HughesDrive uses Telematics technology to monitor how you drive. When you purchase a HughesDrive Telematics-based policy you’ll benefit from a reduced car insurance premium, making it easier for you to get on the road.
It’s easy to get started. When you purchase your HughesDrive policy, simply download the HughesDrive App for free, and connect the App to your car via Bluetooth. Don’t have Bluetooth in your car? No problem – you can order a Beacon via the HughesDrive App and it will provide a signal for the app to connect to.
You’ll receive a weekly score for your driving behaviour. The scoring takes into account metrics such as speed, braking, acceleration, cornering, and usage.
A HughesDrive comprehensive car insurance policy is packed with benefits:
Don’t be left stranded! Our UK & Ireland breakdown assistance means that you won’t be left alone by the side of the road.
Let down by a puncture? If you suffer a puncture whilst driving, the tyre will be changed provided you have a suitable replacement, alternatively assistance will be provided in using the tyre inflation system provided by the car manufacturer and if that’s not possible your car will be towed to the nearest competent repairer, recovery yard or to your home, whichever is closer.
Should the worst happen to your new car in its first year, the policy includes a new car replacement benefit.
It’s disheartening to realise that someone has broken into your car and stolen your things. We’re on your side. We can cover up to £200 (depending on insurer) of the value if you are on a comprehensive policy.
** We would not recommend that a brand new vehicle be covered Third Party Fire and Theft
An excess is the amount of money you pay towards a claim under your policy. The two main types of excess are:
Compulsory excess – this must be paid and relates to claims for accidental or malicious damage, accidental damage, vandalism, fire and theft.
Voluntary excess – this is paid on top of a compulsory excess. You can select a voluntary excess when setting up your policy, which may help to reduce the premium.
