Hughes Insurance, the largest independent insurance broker in Northern Ireland, has invested in state of the art training facilities that have already produced award winning results. Senior Customer Service Advisor at Hughes Insurance, Gillian Pollock, was awarded the Peter Eakin award for top marks in the recent Chartered Institute of Insurance exams (CII), above 74 other applicants.

The new facilities at Hughes Insurance allow staff to enhance their potential by studying for the Chartered Institute of Insurance Certificate and Diploma, both of which are technical and supervisory qualifications for working in the insurance industry. Hughes offers private tuition for the certificate and diploma to staff with generous reward packages for successful candidates. In addition the centre at Hughes Insurance headquarters in Newtownards is an official examination centre, allowing insurance professionals from all over Northern Ireland to come and sit the exams.

Hughes Insurance has appointed a Training Liaison Officer for internal staff development, offering all employees the opportunity to expand their professional skills. Training Liaison Officer at Hughes Insurance, Joy Harron, witnesses first hand the benefits of such an investment: : “Hughes have trained 67 individuals since 2005 with 40 currently working towards the CII qualifications. We find staff perform better when they are allowed to achieve their potential, which in turn increases the professionalism of the service we provide.”
