Hughes Insurance Takes to the High Street

Northern Ireland’s Leading Broker Invests £1 Million in Network Expansion

Hughes Insurance has announced plans to expand its local branch network in Northern Ireland by opening three new branches in the next three months. Plans are also in place to open a branch in Newry in the foreseeable future. The additional branches will bring the total number of Hughes Insurance branches in
Northern Ireland to twelve.

The new branches will open in Coleraine, Omagh and The Kennedy Centre in West Belfast. The Kennedy Centre branch opening will confirm Hughes Insurance as the first major insurance broker to establish a presence in West Belfast.

This announcement follows the successful launch of three new Hughes Insurance branches in Derry, Lisburn and Magherafelt in 2006.

This continued branch network growth is aimed at making it as easy as possible for customers to deal with Hughes Insurance.

Research has shown that NorthernIreland people value local presence when it comes to their insurance. Hughes Insurance has invested over £1million in widening the range of contact options made available to their customers. This includes new branch openings, improved telephone call handling and a new ‘quote and buy’ website at http://www.hughesinsurance.co.uk/.

Leslie Hughes, Chairman of Hughes Insurance, commented: “Over the years we have worked hard to build a brand which represents both value and great service. This is provided by local people in local branches. Hughes Insurance is the largest independent insurance broker in Northern Ireland and our size allows us to secure the best deals in the market with the widest range of insurance companies. Our branch expansion strategy enables us to bring this value to the high street.”

Gareth Brady, Chief Executive of Hughes Insurance, added: “With over 30 years experience in the Northern Ireland market we understand our insurance customer’s needs. We are delighted to offer customers the ability to contact us whichever way they want. That might be at one of our twelve local branches, over the phone, or online at http://www.hughesinsurance.co.uk/.

We also understand the importance of independence. Our customers know that when they are dealing with Hughes Insurance, they are dealing with a locally owned business that has remained independent from the big insurance companies. As a result we can offer independent advice across a range of providers and products. This means the customer has a wider set of options, unlike with the direct insurers where only one product from one company is offered.”

Hughes Insurance has over 30 years of experience in the Northern Ireland insurance business and employs over 150 staff across an expanding branch network. The company offers a full spectrumof personal and commercial insurance products. 85% of the business’ premium turnover is in Personal Lines i.e. car, home and travel insurance. In the commercial sector they offer the full remit of insurance products including employers and public liability, property, shop, office, professionalindemnity and motor fleet insurance. There is also a Financial Services division providing investment, pensions and private health insurance advice.
